Day 1: CUSCO – AGUAS CALIENTES with Peru Rail Expedition Train
Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco at 06:40 AM. You’ll be transferred to the Ollantaytambo station, where the train departs at 8:40 AM, heading to Aguas Calientes. The scenic train journey offers spectacular views of the Andes, including vast mountain landscapes, inter-Andean valleys, and the stunning Ceja de Selva, where Machu Picchu is located. Along the way, admire the Inca terraces growing corn, quinoa, tubers, and cereals, while passing by the snow-capped peaks of the Vilcanota Mountain Range and the majestic Veronica Mountain.

From the town of Pachar, near Ollantaytambo, the sacred Willcamayo (Vilcanota) River will accompany you on this magical journey. The train arrives in Aguas Calientes at 9:40 AM, where a representative will meet you at the station and transfer you to your hotel. After checking in, you’ll prepare for your visit to Machu Picchu.

At 2:30 PM, enjoy a guided tour of Machu Picchu for approximately 3 hours. Our expert guide will share fascinating insights and theories about this ancient Incan citadel. After the tour, you’ll have free time to explore on your own or visit local attractions, such as the Botanical Garden, the new Machu Picchu Museum, or take a walk to Mandor Waterfalls (approximately 3 hours).

Day 2: MACHU PICCHU – HUAYNAPICCHU
Start your day with an early breakfast at 5:00 AM. Afterward, you’ll take the first bus to Machu Picchu, arriving at the entrance by 6:00 AM (please have your passport ready).

Upon arrival, head straight to Huayna Picchu for a guided hike that will take approximately 1 to 2.5 hours. Along the way, you’ll explore the most significant areas of the sanctuary, including viewpoints, temples, residential areas, stairways, sacred terraces, and more.

After your visit to Huayna Picchu, return to Aguas Calientes in time to catch your train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, a bus will take you back to Cusco, completing your memorable Machu Picchu adventure.
